Where do the donations go?
In June 2021, the Fondation Charles-Bruneau announced a historic commitment of more than $25 million over five years to fight pediatric cancer in Quebec. This commitment, which is the Foundation's largest to date, will materialize through a visionary approach in which the collaboration and complementary nature of Quebec's four university hospital centers specializing in pediatric hemato-oncology will be exploited. Numerous research projects will be funded, with the aim of achieving a cancer-free childhood for all Quebec children.
The Fondation's vision and leadership will enable pediatric hemato-oncology researchers from the province's four institutions to work together in synergy, for the greater benefit of thousands of children and their families across the province.
Pediatric cancer in Québec City
Of this colossal investment, close to $9 million has been granted to the CHU de Québec - Université Laval to finance numerous projects related to the treatment of pediatric cancers.
- Every year, between 70 and 75 new cases are diagnosed at the CHU de Québec.
- Nearly 40% of children treated for cancer come from the greater Quebec City area.
- Nearly three out of four children have solid tumors, while a quarter have leukemia.
- More than 3,889 visits are recorded annually.
Once again, it's your continued generosity and commitment that make such a substantial commitment possible. Thank you!
