On May 24, 2025, the second edition of La Coupe Charles-Bruneau will be held in Quebec City. This event is made possible thanks to the involvement of major allies like IGA, the presenting sponsor of this flagship event for the Fondation Charles-Bruneau.
Last year, during the inaugural edition of this friendly dek hockey competition, an IGA des Sources team was crowned champion.

IGA des Sources, led by Jean-Nicolas Tremblay, Vice-president and CEO, will try to retain its title. “We’re challenged; we’re the team to beat,” says a jovial Mr. Tremblay, before adding with emotion that the real champions, however, are children with cancer and their families. “If we give our all on the field, it’s for a future without cancer. We believe in it.”
For this family man, taking part of this fund-raising event for pediatric cancer research was a natural choice.
“For us, family is very important, and the Fondation Charles-Bruneau helps local families. We want to raise awareness of this foundation, and getting involved in La Coupe Charles-Bruneau, with four teams, is our way of doing it.”
After a very positive first experience, recruiting players was easier this year : “We organized a meeting at which we presented the video showing the highlights of La Coupe Charles-Bruneau 2024 in Quebec City. Also, Guillaume [Guillaume Gagné, company shareholder], in addition to his exceptional involvement, reached out to our staff when he spoke movingly of his visit to the Charles-Bruneau Hematology-Oncology Unit at the CHU de Québec-Université Laval. Then we said we could make a difference : by participating and raising donations. People were touched and motivated.”
Many people who work in one of the eight IGA des Sources stores will be in the stands to cheer on their teams.
“The more people there are, the more the Fondation Charles-Bruneau will be known, and the more generous people will be,” says Jean-Nicolas Trenblay. Then, speaking directly to young cancer patients : “We’re here for you. Don’t give up! You are our inspiration.”
